August 27 announcements

This week all congregations in Eastern District & Franconia Conference are praying for Taftsville Chapel Mennonite Fellowship.  Please pray that the congregation continues to grow in “unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” as a church family, that their gatherings for worship “equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ”, and that they can build relationships with those outside of the congregation.  To read more about Taftsville, go to


Zion Mennonite Church will hold GriefShare support group meetings every Thursday afternoon, 1:00 to 2:30 pm beginning September 5. This group is for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them, and will be held for 13 weeks. You’re invited to the HOPE Festival – a family-friendly event offering hope and support for life’s struggles.  Held on the grounds of Franconia Mennonite Church on September 7, 12 noon to 4:00 pm, this free event will have music, FCA sports activities, a kids tent, prizes & giveaways, first responders demonstrations, food, ice cream and more.   Learn more at


You are invited for an evening of entertainment, fundraising and fellowship, September 8, 6:00 pm at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church as Ted & Co will present an original play while auctioning theme buckets and a ‘flash auction’ to raise funds for the MDS project of the Centro de Alabanza’s roof replacement.  Refreshments and a bake sale will follow the performance.  Visit for more information, to donate baked goods, or to volunteer.

The Worm Project Benefit Banquet will be held Saturday, September 21, 6:00 pm at the Franconia Heritage Restaurant.  Hear inspiring stories from their partners working around the world.  The meal is free, although donations are welcome; for reservations, send your name and number of guests to or leave a message at 267-932-6050 Ext. 123.  The last day for reservations is Sunday, September 15.  


Bally Mennonite Church will be serving a pancake breakfast (including pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage, scrapple, OJ, tea, & coffee) on Saturday, October 5 from 7:00 to 10:30 am.  The cost is a donation, and proceeds will benefit the Bally Community Swimming Pool.  For more information, visit

The MAMA Project is now selling discounted Reading Phillies ticket books for the 2020 season. The books include 6 tickets for $27 and can be bought for your own enjoyment or to sell as a church fundraiser. $10 from each ticket book will support MAMA Project’s vision for 2020 to supply the shoreline villages of Lake Victoria in Tanzania with life-saving deworming medicine and micronutrient supplies. Dock Mennonite Academy is accepting applications for a part-time custodial staff member (one position at the Lansdale school, and one at the Souderton school). The position includes general cleaning, setting up and cleaning after events/rentals, snow removal, etc.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb up and down a ladder, and must have reliable transportation to and from work.  Send resumes to Patti Baker at
