Methacton Mennonite Church is hosting a drop in event during Holy Week, called “Praying the Life and Death of Jesus”. Interactive prayer stations for all ages, personalities, and prayer languages will be available throughout the church building on Tuesday, March 27 – Saturday, March 31, 4:00 to 8:00 pm, extending the hours on Good Friday, from 1:00 to 8:00 pm.

All are invited to attend a special farewell honoring outgoing MC USA Executive Director, Ervin Stutzman on Friday, April 13, 7:00 PM in the chapel at Dock Mennonite Academy (9-12 campus). Come enjoy a short program of tributes, serious and fun, musical numbers, and photos. A cake reception will follow with an opportunity to greet Ervin and Bonnie and sign a guestbook with blessings and well-wishes.

 

The EDC/FMC Sistering Committee invites you to “Darkness Unfolding as Light” – the Annual Gathering for Eastern District and Franconia Mennonite Conference Women – which will be held April 14, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Towamencin Mennonite Church.  Come and reflect on the Biblical story of Naomi and Ruth, and hear speakers Marilyn Bender and Rose Bender Cook share about their own journeys of grief and renewed hope. The cost is $15/person, and scholarships are available.

 

Join the Mennonite Heritage Center for a co-benefit with Ten Thousand Villages on April 18 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm as they celebrate the story of the woman who humbly began what became Ten Thousand Villages.  The event will include Indian cuisine, a silent auction of international items, rug displays, and speakers Doug Dirks and Bonnie Moyer. All Junior and Senior High youth are invited to an evening of “Mission Impossible” at Camp Men-O-Lan on April 21, 7:00 to 9:30 pm. Come for an evening of connecting with other youth and adventure in the woods, followed by ice cream. Register online at Franconiaconference.org/events. This event is sponsored by Franconia Mennonite Church, Eastern District Conference and Mennonite Mission Network and hosted by Spruce Lake and Camp Men-O-Lan staff.

 

Youth ministry leaders are invited to attend “The Gathering Live 2018”in downtown Kansas City, May 4 to 6!  The theme for this annual gathering will be “Encountering God: Faith that Matters” with input sessions based on Kenda Creasy Dean’s book Almost Christian: What the Faith of Our Teenagers is Telling the American Church. Youth Ministry teams, pastors, educators, camp workers, sponsors, youth workers, faith formation leaders are welcome to attend, and scholarships are available. Registration is open here.

 

Have you made plans for your children for this summer yet?  If not, consider camp at Dock Mennonite Academy.  They are offering Rockin’ Recreation, Coed Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer and All-Sports for the sports fans, and there are several Science, Math, Art and Engineering camps to choose from as well. Check out www.dock.org for more details.

The International Guest House in Washington, DC has a need for short term volunteers beginning this summer who might serve at least two months. The work consists of keeping the household running (cleaning, baking, maintenance, and responding to needs of our guests), and free room and board plus two days off per week are offered.  For information or an application, contact Sara at volunteer@igh-dc.com.
